Hi, I'm Melissa
I started tutoring because I like helping people get unstuck, and I've been doing it for more than three years now.

A little about me
School has always mattered to me. I'm an honors student with a 4.0, an NJHS member, and I scored in the top 5% on the PSAT. I take advanced and dual-credit classes, and I've earned mastery on my own STAAR tests. Honestly though, the part I like best is helping someone else hit that moment where a hard concept finally clicks.
Outside of class I compete as a varsity diver and qualified for the UIL state meet. I write, too. I represented Texas at the state level in PTA Reflections poetry and competed in UIL Ready Writing, and I'm involved in leadership with FCA. Keeping all of that going has taught me how to stay organized and break big goals into small steps, which is exactly what I help my students do.

How I actually teach
I don't have one method I use on every kid. The best progress comes from paying attention to how your student learns and building around it.
I teach around your student
I start by figuring out how your child thinks and where they're stuck, then build each session around that instead of a script.
Skills that stick
My goal isn't just the next grade. It's the study habits and the confidence your student keeps using for years.
No two students are the same
What works for one kid rarely works for the next, so I adjust the pace and the examples until it genuinely makes sense.
Let's talk about your student
Pick a time that works, or send me a message and we'll figure out the right plan for your student.
